If you have a strong gag reflex, dislike dental visits or need extensive dental work, consider oral sedation dentistry to make your experience more pleasant & comfortable. We would need to have you come in one hour prior to your dental treatment and have nothing to eat for six hours prior. You will be given a few little pills to swallow depending on your size and weight. These may include diazepam, triazolam, lorazepam and hydroxyzine. During your appointment, you may drift off to sleep, but you will still be able to respond to verbal commands when spoken to. When your treatment is completed, you may not member parts of most of the procedure. Some patients feel that is a bonus! You must have some drive you home. The sedation often allows more dentistry to be completed in fewer appointments as well as allowing complex procedures to be performed in less time.
Dr. Khodadadi took 3 days hands on intensive course in Oral Sedation Dentistry in Canada April 2013. Some patients really like the option of having their dental treatment completed using oral sedation! Dr.Khodadadi also uses Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) for those patients who are not able to having some one drive them home. We hope to change the way you feel about visiting the dentist.
